I’m currently longing for a Francis, Francis! X1… It has a great stylish design, lots of colors to choose from, and apparently makes a great crema without any of those lame “crema disk” gadgets. Can’t tell you from experience, though (sadly!), as it runs around $800 :S The review from CoffeeGeek is very thorough…you could also check out lower-end models like the X3.

For a cheaper machine, I was looking at a Breville Cafe Roma on Amazon. Reviews are largely positive, and it has the blend of sleek design and function that I like. Removeable water reservoir is a definite plus!

Oh, and don’t forget to pick up a burr grinder, it will make a huge difference!
